Permanent Windows Live Messenger 2009

WTF was my first expression when I sign in my msn this morning . Luckily I found a way to disable the upgrade permanently. This will be a step-by-step with pics to assist noobs .

Step 1 : Firstly , DON'T UPGRADE , if u did you can still uninstall the current msn and download the full 2009 installer here . CLOSE your msn before you start doing this

Step 2 : Download Reshacker , it's only less than 1mb so don't whine

Step 3 : When you're done dling, double click and start Reshacker

Step 4 : Click FILE>OPEN , Locate your MSN ( Default : C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger )

Step 5 : Locate your msnmsgr.exe

Step 6 : Expand the VERSION INFO>1>1033 . This is where you edit the programming. Take note the old version starts with the number 14

Step 7 : Edit the VALUE "ProductVersion", "14.0.8089.0726" into "15.4.3508.1109" . This would trick msn to think that you're using the new version

Step 8 : Press Compile Script on the top and FILE>SAVE . You may now use this version of msn till you die

There are many reason why I do not recommend using WLM 2011
  • Social network function is crap
  • Loads slow
  • Takes up alot of computer resources
  • No handwriting recognition
  • Can't change display name as you like ( with symbols or colors)
  • Can't block people , only able to appear offline to a contact ( that crazy ex girlfriend still can pm you )
